PUSH/PULL COMPETITION

RULES & REGULATIONS:
 

 UNIFORM:  Shorts and t-shirts only.  No singlets and NO GEAR other than wrist wraps (NOT STRAPS) and a belt.  Shirt and shoes must be worn at all times, including during deadlifts.

WEIGH IN:  Competitors must weigh in 30 minutes prior to the meet.  Athletes must declare opening weights at weigh in.

ROUNDS:  There will be 3 rounds for each lift.  Each competitor will be allowed only one attempt per round.

ATTEMPTS: Each competitor is allowed three attempts on each lift. The lifter’s best lift will count toward his/her total weight lifted.

AWARDS:  Best Lifter awards will be given to the strongest lifter pound for pound (male & female).  Athletes competing in a single event (only bench or deads) are not eligible for best lifter award.

WEIGHT CLASSES: 114, 123, 132, 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 242+ 
 

BENCH PRESS:  Lifter must maintain 5 points of contact at all times:  L/R foot, buttocks, shoulders, head.  The bar must touch the chest (an excessive bounce will result in disqualification). Failure to lock elbows at the top of the press will result in disqualification.  A “lift-off” is permissible.

 DEADLIFTS: Any raising of the bar or any deliberate attempt to do so will count as an attempt. Once the attempt has begun no downward movement is allowed until the lifter reaches the erect position with his knees locked.  Supporting the bar on the thighs during the lift will result in disqualification.  The lifter’s knees must be in a straight position and the shoulders back at the completion of the lift.  Upon completion of the lift, the weights must be lowered under control.  Dropping the bar will result in disqualification. Straps are not allowed during deadlifts.
